My name is Raquel and I am from Barcelona, Spain so most likely you will be reading a lot of stuff about Spanish cheeses and producers in this blog. I am currently living in the States, lost in the middle of wild Pennsylvania – don’t ask me why.
Since I moved here 2 years ago, I have been amazed and surprised with the quality and variety of the craft cheese in this country. I learn or try something new every day but I still have a long way forward. This new panorama of cheese, its tradition, history, producers, and product, is a totally new world for me, one in which I am enjoying submerging myself. I am always open to new cheese projects that make me learn and I try to be involved in the cheese community in as many places and with as much time as I can.
Here are 5 things you should know about me:
- My life without cheese doesn’t make any sense although I have lactose intolerance
- I HATE butter
- I always thought that a sunny side egg with a broken yolk is meaningless
- I don’t have a favorite cheese; I think that each cheese is for a different occasion but if I have to make a list, the Epoisses, Torta del Casar, Cabot Cheddar and Shropshire would be there for sure!
- I am always ready for a cheese conversation- day and night, sad or happy, with wine or without it. Much better with it though!
